Firetide Multi-Service Mesh Network provides a high capacity wireless mesh backbone system for outdoor and indoor networks. Designed for maximum performance, scalability, mobility, and ease of deployment, the HotPort® mesh network works seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments and can operate in 2.4 GHz, 4.9 GHz or 5 GHz spectrums. The Firetide system includes HotPort® mesh nodes, HotPoint® access points, HotClientTM customer premises equipment (CPE) and HotViewTM Network Management System, Firetide Mobility Controller, and Firetide WLAN Controller. The combined solution enables multiple network services and standard Ethernet devices to be deployed virtually anywhere, creating secure and reliable wireless networks for video, voice and data.

Viable Alternative to Fiber

Infrastructure mesh technology from Firetide provides municipal, industrial and enterprise users with the bandwidth needed to expand the reach of their existing networks, while adding a variety of fixed and mobile applications: city-wide video surveillance, traffic management and intelligent transportation systems, Wi-Fi access for mobile city workers and wireless broadband for underserved areas.

Convenient Upgrade Paths

HotPort® 7000 mesh nodes ship as 802.11a/b/g/n dual-radio capable hardware, with enhanced functionality enabled through software licenses. Projects that do not require 802.11n MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) capacity or dual-radio capability can start with 802.11a/b/g-enabled single-radio configuration. Dual-radio functionality can easily be enabled through a software license at an additional cost. Similarly, a separate software license can enable MIMO functionality for operation in 40 MHz channels, and to take advantage of 802.11n technology to achieve throughput of up to 300 Mbps outdoors and 400 Mbps indoors.

Easier Deployments & Network Management

Unlike wired networks, where deployment is cumbersome, the self-forming nature of the Firetide mesh network ensures rapid deployment of large-scale networks. The HotPort 7000 mesh features integrated spectrum analysis, network capacity planning and antenna alignment tools for easier deployments and network management.

Higher Reliability

The HotPort 7000 nodes form a multipoint to multi-point ad hoc wireless mesh network with no single point of failure. Unlike a wired network, where a cut in the cable could take several days to resolve, the Firetide mesh routes the traffic immediately on an alternate link ensuring continuous service and network availability.

Dual-radio Performance

To maximize performance, dual-radio HotPort 7000 nodes support two radio modes. In the "bonded" mode, both radios are combined to operate as a single unit that provides double the bandwidth of a single radio equivalent. In the "linear" mode, both radios operate independently enabling sustained bandwidth levels over an unlimited number of hops. This enables long linear topologies, such as when networking a railway line, and provides a sustained level of service to every node, which is also critical for large municipal networks.

Quality of Service

Firetide's patented AutoMesh™ flow based routing protocol supports advanced load balancing and congestion control mechanisms for optimal routing within the mesh network. The HotPort 7000 mesh infrastructure also provides extensive VLAN capabilities critical for deploying a multi-service network on a large scale.

Metro-scale Deployments

Firetide's network easily scale up to several hundreds of mesh nodes for city-wide deployment. Advanced features like MeshBridge™ and Gigabit EthernetDirect™ support mesh connectivity across multiple locations.

Multicast & Security

Firetide infrastructure provides reliable multicast capabilities critical for large-scale public safety and broadband access networks. Firetide mesh provides advanced security, including 802.11i support, dual-layer of FIPS140-2 certifiable 256-bitAES encryption, digital certifcates on network elements, digitally signed firmware files, MAC based access control lists and VLAN based access control lists.

Flexible Configuration

Indoor and outdoor HotPort 7000 nodes feature dual or single configurable radios in the 2.4, 4.9 (U.S. public safety licensed band) and 5 GHz frequency ranges. Firetide FWB-200 outdoor wireless Ethernet bridges provide low-cost, high-capacity connectivity between two locations. FWB-200 utilizes the MIMO technology to provide increased throughput and performance for a backhaul link. FWB-200 is software configurable to operate in 5 and 4.9 GHz.

Concurrent Voice, Video, Data

FWB-200 bridge is optimized to provide high-capacity and low-latency connectivity for demanding data, voice and video applications. Point-to-point connectivity is critical for municipalities, public safety, industrial installations and campus environments. In addition to these markets, this product serves the needs of wireless Internet service providers and telecom operators.

Wireless Bridging

FWB-200 provides true bridging functionality and is agnostic to the types of client or protocols on the network. FWB-200 supports transparent overlay of multiple subnet (VLANs) over the point-to-point link. It also provides seamless transport of multicast and broadcast traffic over the point to point link, including IPTV distribution, video on demand, video surveillance and video conferencing. In addition, to prevent bandwidth abuse, FWB-200 provides advanced tools such as multicast rate limits.

FWB-200 supports the industry's highest level of security to ensure privacy for communications and reduce liability for service providers. Like all components of the Firetide wireless mesh and access infrastructure, FWB-200 offers WPA2-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access) encryption for an unmatched, solid, and trusted network.

Flexibility of Deployment

Deployed as a standalone solution, the FWB-200 link is managed via a browser based management interface. Customers can also integrate the FWB-200 links into a larger Firetide mesh network managed by HotView Pro™ network management software. Designed for an easy "out-of-the-box" installation experience, the unit pair is shipped preconfigured and with all accessories included. The FWB-200 is bundled with two external 3 in 1 MIMO antennas for 4.9 and 5 GHz. An integrated antenna alignment tool provides step-by-step guidance in achieving maximum signal quality, translating to better network performance and throughput.

Enhanced Radio Management

The FWB-200 enhances the Radio Management capabilities of the bridge by providing a second radio which will be dedicated for RF Monitoring purposes. This enables features such as spectrum analysis, channel load analysis, interference detection and mitigation. Also since the radio is dedicated, this enables faster response to neighborhood RF changes.
